Growing up I would spend the night with my Maw maw in Kossuth, Mississippi. There is nothing like waking up to the smell of fresh biscuits. To this day, when I visit with my wife and kids, left over biscuits are a prize for us to find in the kitchen in a well-seasoned cast iron skillet from the morning.
Now, lets talk about gravy. Most of you out there are very familiar with the white gravy made from milk, flour, and sausage. Right? Well, today I am going to tell you about the gravy of my childhood. Chocolate Gravy! Just the sound of it should get your mouth watering, of course.
For the recipe:
2 T Chocolate cocoa
2 T All purpose flour
3/4 C. Sugar
2 C. Milk
That's it... Just mix up and place on med-high heat till comes to a simmer and thickens.
Now you might say, "that is a simple recipe," and you know what your right! However, when you pair this with a butter milk biscuit you will be in heaven on earth. Seriously! Just try it and you will see.
As mentioned above, waking up and Maw Maws house smelling fresh baked biscuits was amazing. Next time you think breakfast, morning or night, try out this simple recipe. You will be glade you did. Come back and comment below how it turned out.
